Description
Asparagus setaceus ‘Plumosus’ the ‘Lace Fern’ is a very easy to grow house plant, not a fern at all but a true member of the asparagus family which reminds me of a miniature cedar tree a perfect micro bonsai. It will tolerate a wide range of conditions even dry environments so perfect on a windowsill, bright room or even as a terrarium house plant. Coping with temperatures from 13-23 degrees centigrade making it able to survive cooler homes or conservatories. Â In its native South Africa it can surprisingly reach heights over 1.5m but for us much less although if it does reach for the sky is very easily pruned. Happy in a slightly acidic potting compost and enjoys a regular fortnightly feed of dilute seaweed or houseplant fertilizer during spring and summer.
