Panicum virgatum ‘Thundercloud’

Description

Panicum virgatim ‘Thundercloud’ is remarkable for its tight, upright habit, reaching at least 1.8m high, making one of the tallest switchgrasses. The spring foliage emerges a deep green, turning to shades of grey-bluish green as they mature in summer.  From mid-summer through to the autumn the foliage then starts to change into autumnal hues of yellows and pale oranges.

A really good, stately ornamental grass with pinkish, fluffy seed heads and year-round presence. Also perfect for cut-flower arrangement.

Does best in a sunny position with free-draining soil. Its upright stems withstanding heavy rain and wind without flopping.
