Asparagus setaceus ‘Plumosus’

Description

Asparagus setaceus ‘Plumosus’ the ‘Lace Fern’ is a very easy to grow house plant, not a fern at all but a true member of the asparagus family which reminds me of a miniature cedar tree a perfect micro bonsai. It will tolerate a wide range of conditions even dry environments so perfect on a windowsill, bright room or even as a terrarium house plant. Coping with temperatures from 13-23 degrees centigrade making it able to survive cooler homes or conservatories.  In its native South Africa it can surprisingly reach heights over 1.5m but for us much less although if it does reach for the sky is very easily pruned. Happy in a slightly acidic potting compost and enjoys a regular fortnightly feed of dilute seaweed or houseplant fertilizer during spring and summer.
