Description

The Archontophoenix alexandrae or ‘Alexandria Palm’ originates from Queensland in Australia. It is an elegant palm with a slender trunk that develops prominent leaf scars as it grows. It has huge, arching leaves that each have narrow leaflets  which are similar to a Pheonix canariensis, but broad and softer in appearance. In summer months, sprays of cream flowers appear and these can develop into pinkish-red fruit.

Here in the UK it will do best as a container grown plant being outside in a warm, sheltered and partially shaded position and brought inside for the winter months. Alternatively it makes an attractive conservatory plant.
