Description
Zantedeschia aethiopica ‘Over the Moon’ is an exciting compact and very sturdy form of the well known ‘Arum Lily’, rarely growing more than a metre high, but producing huge broad, arrow shaped leaves up to 75cm long and 35cm wide. The pure white spathe or ‘flower’ is slightly twisted at the tip and often over 20cm long and 15cm wide.
‘Over the Moon’ has been named by us, courtesy of a highly respected plantsman. Our trials have shown that it is consistently easy to grow, tolerant of shade and dappled shade, preferring rich, moisture retentive soils. Should be hardy in most gardens given a sheltered location away from strong winds which can damage the huge deep green leaves. In most gardens once the frosts arrive, the plant will be semi or totally deciduous, retreating to its underground roots, during this time we would recommend a protective mulch of organic material to protect the plant.
