Asarum nobilissimum ‘Deep Throat’

Description

Asarum nobilissimum ‘Deep Throat’ is an outrageous evergreen species and surely will provide a real ‘talking point’ in the garden!  The glossy, heart-shaped and deep green foliage can reach up to 25-30cm in length but the mysterious flowers are something else!  Sitiated at the base of the plant the flowers can reach up to 10cm across and are deep-pruple, al ost black with creamy yellow flecks.  The ‘eye’ or ‘throat’ of the flower is deep-purple-pink.  Quite extraordinary and remarkably fully hardy.  Plant in fertile, moisture retentive soil in partial to full shade and try not to snigger too much at the name.
