Description
Roystonea regia, often known as the royal palm orginates from Mexico, the Carribean, Florida and parts of Central America. This stunning palm, forms a grey-white trunk, topped by a crown of feathery leaves reaching 2 metres long. It is planted throughout the tropics and subtropics as an ornamental tree. In its natural habitat it reaches stately heights from 15–24 m tall.
For us here in the UK, it makes a beautiful specimen conservatory plant and it will happily live outside for spring and summer and then brought in to somewhere frost free for the cool winter months. Plant in fertile moisture retentive compost and place in a sunny, bright position.
